  1. Major Review of MSW Curriculum: Part 2

    April 6, 2018 - 8:30am to 1:00pm

Join us for continued efforts on revising the MSW curriculum. The Curriculum Committee hosted a Review Session on January 19th that highlighted trends in the social work education, the profession, and higher education, as well as where we would like to go in the future with this program. We now want to focus on making the recommendations you made on January 19th, a reality for the MSW curriculum and move this endeavor forward. We will send you materials ahead of time to review in preparation for this session, and we hope that you will come with an open mind, ready for action!

Please RSVP to save your spot.

  2. Social Work and Sports

    April 6, 2018 - 9:00am to 5:00pm

    Cancelled

A growing body of research documents the positive health and mental health benefits of participating in organized sports and recreation. While much of the current research is focused on youth participation in sports, there is also evidence of how participation in sports can benefit people across the life span and from different ethnic and socioeconomic groups. This workshop will examine how social work values, concepts, and interventions on both the micro and macro levels can enhance sport activities. Specific strategies such as strength-based coaching, team-building, conflict resolution, family collaboration, diversity training, community engagement, advocacy and policy development will be discussed. Model interdisciplinary programs that serve at-risk youth, older adults, individuals with disabilities and other special populations will be highlighted.

Registration for this course is closed. Visit the CE Course Catalog for more offerings.
