The Research Office provides information and resources to help students and faculty conduct high-quality research to move the social work profession forward. Grounded in social justice principles, our research focuses on day-to-day problems faced by all, but, particularly by underserved and vulnerable populations.

Our research makes a positive difference in social work practice, and influences research in the social sciences, public health, medicine, nursing and others. We practice interprofessional collaboration across the University of Michigan, around the State of Michigan and nationally and internationally. Our research content is broad in scope, including health and mental disparities, child abuse and neglect, substance misuse, gerontology and many other critical topics.
