Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students Office (DOS) is a central place for students, parents, faculty, and staff to seek assistance in navigating the complex issues of campus life. The critical incident response and student support case management team provide direct support to students experiencing any concern that is impacting their Michigan experience, including academic, financial, or physical/mental health concerns as well as crisis/emergency situations, basic needs, and off-campus housing issues.
Insurance for Students
The University of Michigan offers health insurance plans for domestic and international students. MSW students should also review liability and auto insurance information.
Student Veteran & Military Services
Veteran and Military Services helps students make the transition from active military duty to U-M and from U-M to active military duty.
University Health Service (UHS)
Student Life’s University Health Service (UHS) serves as an on-campus, comprehensive student health care resource, where most services for currently enrolled students are covered by fees already included with tuition. Students can send prescriptions for easy pickup on campus to the UHS pharmacy and see physicians, specialists, and clinicians right on campus, between classes.
Wolverine Wellness
Wolverine Wellness nurtures a healthy campus community with coaching and educational programs on wellness, tobacco cessation, safer sex, alcohol and drugs, healthy eating and body image, and much more.
Wolverine Support Network
The Wolverine Support Network (WSN) is a student-led peer support program designed to empower students to create a safe community in support of mental wellbeing and identity development. The groups meet weekly and provide a place to discuss day-to-day stressors, build trust and connect with students from across campus.

Student Emergency Funds
Students sometimes experience unusual, unforeseen expenses while in school, and the University of Michigan offers several types of assistance for students in such special circumstances. School of Social Work students may contact the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management ([email protected]) for assistance and/or learn more about applying for student emergency funds here.
Maize and Blue Cupboard
The Maize and Blue Cupboard is a student organization providing locally sourced food to ensure members of the University of Michigan community receive equitable access to healthy, nutritious, and nourishing food and the ability to prepare it for themselves or others.
International Center
Student Life’s International Center (IC) serves U-M's international student, faculty, scholar, and staff population, facilitates intercultural and international education, and fosters a global campus community at the University of Michigan and beyond. The IC is also the university's central source of advice and counsel on U.S. immigration regulations and compliance.
Spectrum Center
Student Life’s Spectrum Center is a collaborative space in which all members of the university and local community are welcome. Through collaboration and partnership efforts, the Center supports students to thrive in a diverse society and globally. The center works toward enhancing the campus climate and support services for LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty at the university through education, advocacy, and community building.
Trotter Multicultural Center
The William Monroe Trotter Multicultural Center (TMC) promotes a campus and community where all students can prosper academically and socially and can develop a better understanding and appreciation for multicultural diversity at U-M. TMC hosts and sponsors many events and programs, including those focused on social identity connection, health and wellness, and heritage and culture.
Student Legal Services (SLS)
Student Life’s Student Legal Services (SLS) is a full-service law office providing students with legal advice and counseling on everything from housing and family law to consumer law and traffic violations. SLS also litigates cases on behalf of U-M students.
