The Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care (IBHPC) is designed for clinicians -- such as social workers, nurses, care managers, psychologists, and physicians -- who deliver or plan to deliver integrated health services. The program offers three track options so participants can tailor their learning to the populations they serve:
The IBHPC instructional team is an interdisciplinary group of professionals committed to promoting and establishing integrated, culturally-responsive, and recovery-oriented systems of care. The instructional roster reflects expertise from many disciplines, including social work, nursing, psychology, and medicine, and is comprised of front-line clinical staff operating in real-world integrated health environments as well as nationally recognized scholars and academicians.
"I am a Clinical Psychologist working in a primary care setting in the suburbs of Chicago. I found the Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care to be a significantly valuable resource in advancing my knowledge and skills regarding successful behavioral health implementation in an integrated setting. The program provided me with knowledge about global changes to our health system as well as practical interventions that can be utilized in the clinical setting. The concept of integrated health care is vast and complicated, but the certificate program breaks it down into a digestable and useful curriculum. I recommend this program to any clinician who is looking to further their understanding of and skills in integrated care."

"There was a lot of very helpful information, both from the perspective of placing integration in a broader context of health care and coming changes to health care, as well as clinical tools that are useful in integrated care. The program is administered very well with great back up, technical support, good communication, clear expectations, useful materials, convenient technological aids."

"Having the opportunity to attend the Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care (IBHPC) course was extremely informing as I truly believe our healthcare systems should and are moving in this direction. Integrating mental health in primary care will be key to improving access, outcomes, and financial stability for improved healthcare of our nation. I am proud that our UM SSW is on the cutting edge of this movement."
