  1. In the Joint PhD Program, when should I register for DOC 990 or DOC 995 and how many credits will I need?

    Students will register for DOC 990 when they are taking their social work or social science prelims. They will register for 1-8 credit hours, depending on their need. DOC 995 is specifically for registration during the term the student plans to defend their dissertation, and they must register for 8 hours.

  2. Is a payment plan available for the Sexual Health Certificate Program?

    Yes, Sexual Health Certificate Program participants may opt into our three-installment payment plan. Most participants utilize this option.

  3. Is an interview required for acceptance?

    No. However, the admissions committee may request to interview you before making their final decision. You may request an interview to discuss your work history, grades or a career change. An admissions counselor can offer additional information on whether a self-initiated interview would be beneficial.

  4. Is financial aid available for the MasterTrack Certificate Program?

    There is no financial aid available for the MasterTrack Certificate program but financial aid is available to students admitted into the MSW program (whether online or on-campus).

    MasterTrack students may sign up for a payment plan through Coursera. The installment payment plan lets you make four equal payments in four consecutive months. Once you start the installment plan, you'll still be charged for the entire program even if you don't complete it.

  5. Is financial aid or scholarship assistance available for this Continuing Education certificate program?

    No, this continuing education certificate program does not currently offer financial aid.

  6. Is financial aid or scholarship assistance available for this continuing education certificate program?

    The Sexual Health Certificate Program offers a partial scholarship to 5-10 participants per year who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to social justice. The application is made available to participants who are admitted and enroll in the program.

  7. Is housing available at the University of Michigan?

    The University of Michigan offers limited on-campus housing for eligible graduate students. Non-University housing includes co-ops, apartments, and houses for rent. Most students live off campus within walking distance of the School of Social Work. For more information on housing visit the U-M Housing website.

  8. Is it possible to connect with a current MSW student to learn more about their experience in the program?

    Absolutely! You can send a request to be contacted by a current student. You can also connect with current MSW students as well as other prospective MSW students at one of our student led virtual meetings.
