MasterTrack MSW Online Program

Complete the MasterTrack Certificate and your MSW Online with the #1 School of Social Work

Once you successfully finish your MasterTrack certificate and are admitted to the MSW online program, you continue your MSW degree requirements online part-time. The online curricular pathway is Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse which prepares you to become a licensed clinical social worker.

Please note the MasterTrack Certificate alone is a non-credit bearing credential.

Admission Requirements

Program Requirements

  • Admission to the MSW program.
  • Successful completion of MasterTrack certificate.
  • Students will complete a 45 credit hour program including 14 credits of field instruction (912 clock hours). Field instruction must be completed in the U.S.
  • Non-candidate for degree students are not eligible to participate in the MasterTrack MSW Online program.
  • Transfer and dual degree students may be eligible to participate in the online MSW program.

You will complete coursework in the Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse, which prepares you to become a licensed clinical social worker.

    Submit an Eligibility Review Request at the earliest date possible.

    Your resume and interest form will be reviewed to assess eligibility to apply to the MasterTrack MSW program. Once approved, schedule an admissions consultation with the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management, ssw.msw.info@umich.edu.
  • Step 3

    Apply to MSW Program, if eligible based on review. Your application will receive a full MSW program admissions review.

  • Step 4

    Start your MasterTrack certificate either before or after you receive an MSW Program application decision.

    Students may be well advised to start the MasterTrack after receiving an offer of admission to the MSW Program. Completion of the MasterTrack certificate does not guarantee admission to the MSW program.

Please note admission will be offered on a rolling basis and therefore early application is strongly encouraged.

  • Submit your Eligibility Review Request as soon as possible.

  • Recommended start date for the MasterTrack Program: June 28, 2021.

  • Complete all MasterTrack courses by December 20, 2021.

  • Begin online MSW program courses in the Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health & Substance Abuse pathway in January 2022.

Financial Aid

Online MSW

For information please refer to the MSW Guide to Financial Aid. Students may apply for grants, scholarships, and other forms of financial aid for the semesters they are enrolled in master’s level online courses through the School of Social Work. Students should submit the SSW Financial Aid Application at the time of application to the MSW Program.

MasterTrack Certificate

There is no financial aid available for the online MasterTrack certificate.
