Advanced Standing MSW Programs

If you have earned your BSW degree from a CSWE or CASWE accredited program, the advanced standing program may allow you to earn your MSW degree in less time by reducing credit-hours from 60 to 45.

Part-Time

    Beginning May 2021 a new part-time, Online MSW will help you balance studies, work, family and other commitments. The online curricular pathway is Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse preparing you to become a licensed clinical social worker.

    The day program offers 8+ curriculum options and classes are held on campus in Ann Arbor Monday through Friday.

Full-Time

Requirements for Advanced Standing

  • Attained an undergraduate degree with a major in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) or from a program that was in candidacy status for this accreditation at the time the degree was awarded.
  • Maintained a GPA of 3.5 or above in the equivalent of the final two years of undergraduate study (GPA calculated by SSW).
  • Completed undergraduate degree within ten years of the expected completion of the MSW degree.
