Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is there a deadline to submit the eligibility request form?

    No, but you should consider submitting it well in advance of start of a MasterTrack cohort so you have a determination before the course begins. This is particularly important for students planning to apply to the MSW degree program.

  2. Is there a difference between the Online and On-campus MSW Programs?

    Yes, the online MSW program will only be offered as part-time for those interested in our Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse pathway. Students can complete our on-campus MSW program either full-time or part-time. Our evening part time program is also limited to the Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse pathway.

  3. Is there a wireless connection available at the School of Social Work?

    Wireless internet connection is available throughout the building for laptops with wireless cards.

  4. Is there an age requirement for students taking MasterTrack courses?

    Students must be at least 18 years old.

  5. Is there more than one registrar's office at the University of Michigan?

    Yes. There is the University's Office of the Registrar located primarily in the Student Activities building with some offices across the street in the LS&A building, and there are in some cases school/college registrars. The School of Social Work also has a Press enter to read full text...

  6. May I apply to the Joint PhD Program as a transfer student?

    The Joint PhD program does not accept transfer students or credits to the program unless a student comes directly from one of the five departments aligned with the Social Work and Social Science PhD. Students wishing to join the Joint PhD program from one of the five social sciences must go through the application process just as any other student applying to the program.

  7. May I apply to the Joint PhD Program in Social Work and Social Science without having an MSW degree?

    Yes. If you are accepted into the Joint PhD Program, you will earn your MSW degree in the process of completing your PhD.

  8. My organization wants to register several people to take a certificate program. What's the best way to register a group for a CE certificate program?

    We recommend that each participant reviews the program schedule and requirements and registers themself individually. Whoever is organizing the group and/or providing payment for the group should contact the Office of Continuing Education by email to coordinate payment. If you are planning to register a large group, we strongly encourage you to set up a call with the Office of Continuing Education to discuss your interest and needs.
