MasterTrack MSW Online Program

Complete the MasterTrack Certificate and your MSW Online with the #1 School of Social Work

Once you successfully finish your MasterTrack certificate and are admitted to the MSW online program, you continue your MSW degree requirements online part-time. The online curricular pathway is Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse which prepares you to become a licensed clinical social worker.

Admissions Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required
  • Candidates with previous human service experience are strongly preferred
  • Submit the Eligibility Review Request form

Program Requirements

  • Admission to the MSW program.
  • Successful completion of MasterTrack certificate.
  • Students will complete a 45 credit hour program including 14 credits of field instruction (912 clock hours).
  • Transfer and dual degree students are not eligible to participate in the online MSW program.

You will complete coursework in  the Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse which prepares you to become a licensed clinical social worker.

    Send your resume and Eligibility Review Request form to the Office of Student Services, ssw.msw.info@umich.edu.

    Submit Eligibility Review Request

  • Step 2
    Your resume and interest form will be reviewed to assess eligibility to apply to the MasterTrack MSW program. Once approved, schedule an admissions consultation with the Office of Student Services, ssw.msw.info@umich.edu.
  • Step 3

    Apply to MSW Program, if eligible based on review. Your application will receive a full MSW program admissions review.

  • Step 4

    Start your MasterTrack certificate either before or after you receive an MSW Program application decision.

    Students may be well advised to start the MasterTrack after receiving an offer of admission to the MSW Program. Completion of the MasterTrack certificate does not guarantee admission to the MSW program.

  • Send your resume and Eligibility Review Request form to the Office of Student Services, ssw.msw.info@umich.edu as soon as possible.
  • Begin the MasterTrack Program no later than October 12, 2020.
  • Complete all MasterTrack courses by May 3, 2021.
  • Begin online MSW program courses in the Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health & Substance Abuse pathway in May 2021.

To begin the Online MSW Program in August of 2021

  • Complete all MasterTrack courses by August, 2021.
  • Begin online MSW program courses in August 2021.

  • Begin online MSW program courses in the Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health & Substance Abuse pathway in January 2022.

Financial Aid

For information please refer to the MSW Guide to Financial Aid. Students may apply for grants, scholarships, and other forms of financial aid for the semesters they are enrolled in master’s level online courses through the School of Social Work. Students should submit the SSW Financial Aid Application at the time of application to the MSW Program. There is no financial aid available for the online MasterTrack certificates.
