    September 18, 2018 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

    This session will provide the opportunity to learn more about the University of Michigan School of Social Work MSW program. Topics covered will include: MSW Curriculum, Dual Degree Programs, Application Process, Financial Aid, and more.

  2. Field Educational Agreement Help Session

    September 18, 2018 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm

    Students who are currently enrolled in a field course (SW515, SW531 and/or SW691) are encouraged to attend one of the two Educational Agreement help sessions. Field Faculty will lead these sessions and discuss the purpose of the Educational Agreement, the steps to completing it and how to write meaningful assignments.

    Snacks will be provided.

    September 18, 2018 - 5:00pm to 8:00pm

    Stop by the Idealist.org Graduate School Fair to speak with an admissions representative about U-M's MSW and PhD programs. The fair is free and open to anyone considering graduate school.

  4. So Cool So Just: Social Justice Organization Fair So Cool So Just: Social Justice Organization Fair

    September 19, 2018 - 11:00am to 2:00pm

    Interested in getting involved in social change on or off campus? Come and visit the diag September 19th 11:00AM - 2PM to join a community of social change agents!

    The So Cool, So Just Student Organization Fair is sponsored by the Community Action and Social Change Undergraduate Minor, the Ginsberg Center, and the Office of Community-Engaged Academic Learning as a space for students to learn, connect, and network with social justice organizations.  Each year, more than thirty organizations and departments gather to inform students about ways to get involved, share resources, and build community. So Cool, So Just fair invites your participation whether you’re interested in community-based action, educational justice through dialogue, service-learning, or policy.

    **If you are a part of an organization that would like to partake in the So Cool So Just Student Org Fair, please submit your application via the SCSJ Student Org Fair Application no later than September 14th.

  5. International Coffee Hour

    September 19, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    The Office of Global Activities hosts bi-weekly coffee hour for all international students and visitors at the School of Social Work. It is a time to relax and socialize with each other. Please come join us! Boba tea will be provided if you RSVP before 9 AM on the day of the event.

  6. Tips for Graduate School Writing

    September 19, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    Join Betsy Williams, Writing Skills Coordinator, and Darlene Nichols, Social Work Librarian, for an overview of resources and expectations for graduate-level academic writing and library research. Topics will include when to cite sources and how to cite correctly using APA Style.

    Short presentations will allow ample time for your questions.

    This session will be repeated on Monday, September 24.

  7. MSW Student Leadership/Organization Training

    September 19, 2018 - 12:30pm to 2:00pm

    All organizations must also register with the Center for Campus Involvement (CCI) once a year so that you are recognized within the greater University as well. The deadline to register with CCI is September 30th. Organizations that fail to re-register by September 30th will be considered inactive and their SOAS accounts will be frozen until it is completed. 

    Please note that all SSW student organizations will need to register with the Office of Student Services each fall and winter semester. The student org. training session is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 19th, at 12:30 pm in room 1636, please RSVP here.

    A $50 grant will be given to all student organizations that complete the registration process with both OSS and CCI. 

    *Registration with OSS and the Center for Campus Involvement is necessary in order to reserve space in the SSW and also to acquire funding sponsorship from OSS.

  9. 15th Annual International Human Trafficking & Social Justice Conference

    September 20, 2018 to September 21, 2018

    Since 2004, The Annual International Human Trafficking and Social Justice Conference has been bringing together researchers, practitioners, and individuals with lived experience in an effort to lay the groundwork for future collaborative research, advocacy and program development.  To date, the trafficking conference has welcomed presenters from 33 states and 16 countries to educate social service, health care, and criminal justice professionals on human trafficking and the needs and risk of victims, as well as their customers, and traffickers.

  10. ACEs, Resilience, and Prevention: Research-Practice Intersections

    September 21, 2018 - 9:00am to 12:15pm

    This course will provide an overview of research on adverse childhood experiences and resilience in children, youth, and families. Participants will learn about goals for prevention and intervention programs designed lessen risk and to improve the life chances of those who are vulnerable because of ACE exposure. Content presentation, discussion, and small group work will focus on ways to integrate current research into practice settings. Material covered in the course is relevant to those entering or working in child welfare, health care, school systems, and juvenile justice.
