LEO Intermittent Lecturer

Meghan M. Thiel

Meghan Thiel, MSW’13, has nearly a decade of experience working in health care, with a focus on end-of-life and palliative care. She has a passion for developing the social work role to the top of its scope and has worked to build educational opportunities and expand the social work role during her time with the Adult Palliative Care team at Michigan Medicine. Thiel served as an education lead from 2019-2021 for the Social Work Education Program at Michigan Medicine, during which she focused on developing interprofessional education (IPE) efforts. Wanting to continue her work in IPE, she is currently an Interprofessional Leadership Fellow with the U-M Center for Interprofessional Education, and is engaged in research about shared decision making. Thiel has extensive experience in community bereavement programs, having facilitated both children's and adult support groups for many years. Thiel joined the School of Social work as a LEO lecturer in 2021.

In addition to this work, she is currently the associate program director for the Ann Arbor branch of Ele’s Place.
