    Come to have a free lunch, learn about clinical work in nonprofits as well as in a medical setting. Vanessa has worked as a clinical therapist for well over 10 years, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Tuskegee University and her master’s degree from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work. Much of her clinical practice has been with survivors of childhood sexual abuse as well as individuals overcoming traumatic experiences. She has a significant amount of clinical experience working with individuals battling depression, anxiety and adjustment disorders. She’s highly regarded for her efforts in addressing specialty clinical areas to include crisis intervention, trauma focused sensory intervention, juvenile risk assessment and family skill building.

    The Graduate Certificate in Community Action and Research is sponsoring "Interrupting Legacies of Historical Trauma in Indigenous Communities: Centering Culture, Resilience, Resistance, Healing and Art." Ramona Beltran, Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Denver, will deliver the keynote address. Cintia Huitzil, Joint PhD student in Anthropology and Social Work at the University of Michigan and Amy Stillman, Professor of American Culture and Music, University of Michigan are discussants.

    Mental Health Matters, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and the Office of Student Services partner to bring, "Destigmatizing Mental Health & Free the Mind Wellness Fair" 

     

     

    Destigmatizing Mental Health & Free the Mind Wellnes Fair will feature a wellness fair with varying self-serving wellness stations, yoga and other self care activities. These activites require no RSVP and will take place from 12:30 PM - 5:00 PM. If you plan to attend the yoga section or the panel discussion, please RSVP below. 

    Following the Free the Mind Wellness Fair, there will be a panel discussion featuring faculty, staff and students sharing their expert knowledge & personal experiences surrounding the intersection of mental health & diversity. Participants will be given an opportunity to engage with the content of the panel discussion in small groups following the panel.
