Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and OCD Related Disorders
Summary
This course will include a comprehensive review of cognitive-behavioral therapy and exposure and response prevention treatment for OCD and OC related disorders. Exposure therapy, cognitive skills and assessment techniques will be reviewed and practiced in an interactive format. Live CBT/ERP interventions and video case examples will be presented throughout the course. Training in intervention related homework related exercises and techniques for enhancing adherence to outside of session exercises will also be an integral part of the course.
- Describe obsessive-compulsive disorder diagnostic criteria and assessment techniques.
- Identify neurological differences of a sticky brain in OCD that cause specific treatment challenges.
- Describe a fear hierarchy and complete a behavioral analysis of OCD symptoms.
- Describe the key components of exposure and response prevention, including evidence based practice expectations for effective ERP.
- Describe the key components of ERP and develop an ERP therapy plan for contamination based OCD.
- Describe the key components of ERP and develop an ERP therapy plan for sexual, violent and morality/religious intrusive thought based OCD.
- Describe the key components of ERP and develop an ERP therapy plan for just-rightness/perfectionism and safety/checking based OCD.
- Describe the critical need for evidence based OCD and the costs of providing inadequate treatment for this disabling condition.
- Identify DSM-5 criteria for Body Dysmorphic Disorder as well as understanding assessment techniques, prevalence and demographic information on BDD.
- Describe basic CBT treatment components of BDD including exposure therapy, cognitive skills and perceptual retraining.
- Identify DSM-5 criteria for Trichotillomania, Excoration Disorder and other Body Focused Repetitive Disorders as well as understanding assessment techniques, prevalence and demographic information on BFRBs.
- Describe basic HRT treatment components of BFRBs including stimulus control, awareness training and cognitive skills.
- Identify DSM-5 criteria for Hoarding Disorder as well as understanding assessment techniques, prevalence and demographic information on Hoarding Disorder.
- Describe basic hoarding based CBT treatment components of hoarding disorder including exposure therapy, organizational skills and cognitive skills.
