Admissions Process and Eligibility

  1. Am I eligible to apply to the MasterTrack program if I am pursuing a graduate degree from another program that is not social work?

    Yes. If you are planning to complete the MSW degree with another graduate degree (dual degree) at the University of Michigan, you would need to apply to the MSW program and meet an experience requirement in order to complete the MasterTrack MSW program. Dual degree students however would need to pursue the residential MSW program, the online program MSW program is not an option.

  2. Can I apply to the MasterTrack MSW if I am an undergrad?

    Yes, however, you will need to have your human service screened through the Eligibility Review Request form

  3. Do MasterTrack certificate students have to have their experience screened?

    Experience screening is required only if a student wants to enroll in the MSW degree seeking program and would like to use the MasterTrack courses toward their degree.

  4. Do students have to apply to the Social Work: Practice, Policy and Research MasterTrack Certificate program?

    No. Anyone can enroll in MasterTrack courses.

  5. How do I have my experience screened for the MasterTrack MSW program?

    Complete the Eligibility Review Request form to have your human service experience screened.

  6. How long does it take to receive a decision after submitting the eligibility request form?

    Eligibility request forms will be reviewed as soon as possible. Students should receive a decision within 5-10 days of submission.

  7. Is there a deadline to submit the eligibility request form?

    No, but you should consider submitting it well in advance of start of a MasterTrack cohort so you have a determination before the course begins. This is particularly important for students planning to apply to the MSW degree program.

  8. Is there an age requirement for students taking MasterTrack courses?

    Students must be at least 18 years old.
