FAQs

Here are FAQs that we tend to get:

1. Does this mean I have to commit to practicing in IL over the long-term? No, you do not have to commit to practicing in IL over the long-term. You’d just have to commit to getting your initial LCSW license in IL, after which, you can apply for equivalency in other states. If you prefer to start with another state from the beginning, please let us know during the interview and we can discuss it.

2. Do I eventually need to apply for equivalency in another state? You would need to apply for equivalency in another state if you plan to work for a different practice whose clients are not IL clients. If you stay with us, you would not necessarily need to apply for equivalency.

3. If I am interested in working with clients in certain states for cultural reasons, can I do that? Yes, you can absolutely do that, but IL will be your “home base” initially.

4. Who is this role great for? People who want to be therapists and have an affinity for working with marginalized populations. People who are thoughtful learners. Folks who value independence and autonomy. In this practice, therapists will feel like they are doing their own private practice, but they’ll also have ample support.

5. Will there be any health insurance benefits? Yes, likely by September 2024.

6. Could I do more than 25 sessions per week? It’s totally up to you how many sessions per week you want to do. The minimum though is 20 sessions per week, on average, since this is intended to be a full-time position.

7. How quickly can I expect my caseload to fill up? Within 2-3 months, and very likely within one month. However, you are more than welcome to ramp up at your pace.

8. How would you describe your work culture? Amazing. Safe. Supportive. Diverse. Everyone gets to be exactly who they are. Innovative. Ambitious learners.

9. What is one thing that makes your practice a little different from many of the others? Because we are a relatively new group practice, you will have opportunities to shape the direction of the practice. There are also opportunities for new therapists to take on big leadership roles over the next couple of years.
