This SSW faculty workshop allows participants to gain insight and understanding to work with students with disabilities. The first part of this workshop is a disability awareness and understanding training, an interactive presentation about appropriately interacting with people who have disabilities, anticipating disability issues, and recognizing barriers. The workshop is designed to assist professors and staff to have diversity, equity and inclusion of people with disabilities in their courses and programs utilizing principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its implementation for social work practice. Additionally, the workshop will be discussing specific ways to look at assistive technology and ways to create appropriate accommodations and inclusive participation.
