The program has recently been re-released in a self-paced format, so we do not yet have data on completion timelines for this program specifically. However, we can make some informed guesses. Program completion requirements make it possible for participants to complete the entire program in one month, but it is more likely that those with busier schedules would take 3-6 months to work through the program.
Some students can complete the MSW program in 12 months (full-time Advanced Standing, MicroMasters MSW, MasterTrack MSW, U-M Sociology & SW, and UM-Dearborn Human Services & SW). Students in our full-time four-term programs complete the program in either 16 months or 20 months. Part-time students have different options. Please visit our Program Length webpage for details.
Eligibility request forms will be reviewed as soon as possible. Students should receive a decision before the next cohort start date.
For full-time, you would complete the 45 credits in 3 semesters (about a year) on-campus or online. Part-time students (on-campus or online) will complete the 45 credits in 7 semesters (about two years and four months).

Part-time online students enroll in 5-7 credits each semester for 7 semesters to complete the 45-credit degree program. This includes credits for field placement hours.
