Where do I park?

Parking on campus is very limited. If you are considering purchasing a parking pass, please visit the U-M Parking & Transportation Services website.

The University and the AATA provide several free commuter parking lots that provide service to campus via bus, more info can be found here.

Is there a wireless connection available at the School of Social Work?

Wireless internet connection is available throughout the building for laptops with wireless cards.

Do I need to purchase a computer for the MSW program?

Yes, all Master of Social Work (MSW) students must obtain a personal laptop computer. Laptops are used in some classes, in group projects outside of class, and can serve your other information processing needs. The SSW utilizes virtual lab technology that all students can access anytime, anywhere, making a laptop essential. Please review the School's laptop requirement policy.

Does the university provide overnight housing for prospective student visits?

Unfortunately no, but a current student in the MSW program may be willing to host you during your stay. Contact the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management (734-936-0961 or [email protected]) to inquire about this possibility. What services and accommodations are available for students with disabilities?

Are career services available to students and alumni of the School of Social Work?

Yes. The School of Social Work offers career services to both current students and alumni of the MSW program. The Director of Career Services, Michelle Woods offers workshops on job searching, resume writing, interviewing, and licensure preparation each semester. The School also holds alumni networking luncheons to put students in touch with alumni who are working in particular areas of the field. A job bulletin is also emailed to students every two week. What is the student of color enrollment?

The fall 2017 incoming MSW class was comprised of 28% students of color and 15 international students from six different countries.

How quickly do University of Michigan Social Work graduates find jobs?

The average graduate finds a position within 3-4 months from the time they begin their search.

How can I add a class?

Students can add a class through their schedule in Wolverine Access until the drop/add deadline determined by the University Academic Calendar on the University's Office of the Registrar website.

How do I withdraw or disenroll from the term?

Students who wish to drop all elections in a given term and who do so prior to the first day of classes (according to the University Academic Calendar) for the term can do so by contacting the University Registrar, 2200 Student Activities building, [email protected].

Students should also inform the School's Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management or Registrar's Office if they disenroll during this time frame. On or following the first day of classes, students must obtain the written approval of the School of Social Work before the university registrar will withdraw them from all course elections for the term. Contact Tim Colenback ([email protected]) or Erin Zimmer ([email protected]) in the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management, and notify the School registrar in writing by utilizing the Intent to Withdraw Form and emailing it to [email protected].

If the withdrawal is approved, the appropriate notification will be sent to the university registrar requesting the withdrawal.
