Sean J. de Four

Sean de Four currently serves as senior vice president and chief operating officer for Wellspring Lutheran Services, one of Michigan’s largest human service organizations serving children, adults, families and seniors. As chief operating officer, de Four provides leadership, direction and oversight to Wellspring Lutheran Services’ array of programs, which include: child welfare, family preservation, behavioral health, homeless services, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, memory support, home health and hospice.

de Four has a distinguished career in non-profit management and leadership. A licensed master social worker with both clinical and macro designations, his professional experience includes extensive work in mental health, substance abuse, child welfare, refugee services, juvenile justice, services for persons with disabilities, affordable housing and senior services. Prior to joining Wellspring, de Four worked at the C-suite level for 16 years, first as the chief operating officer for the Judson Center, a nonprofit organization in Southeast Michigan and then as the vice president, Child and Family Services, for Samaritas, the state’s 5th largest non-profit human service organization.

de Four is a member of the University of Michigan School of Social Work faculty, where he has served as a LEO lecturer since 2016. He teaches courses in social welfare policy, child and family policy, mental health policy, human service management and administration. He holds a BA in Political Science and an MSW, both from the University of Michigan.
