Brooke Buys, MSW'13, focuses on innovative mental health care development and gender-responsive addiction treatment. Buys is the founder and CEO of BLND Health, a mental health care company located in Michigan, Colorado, Tennessee and offering services nationwide. The BLND team is comprised of clinical social workers and psychologists serving individuals, families, couples, groups and organizations. BLND Health serves as a state-licensed intensive outpatient program for substance use disorders. Buys has worked within the social work field with individuals, community engagement, organizations for nearly 15 years. She is completing a PhD in Social Work and Psychology with her research focused on gender-responsive approaches to addiction treatment. Her career has been shaped early on by piloting reproductive health care services in Guatemala and serving as a home-based interventionist, medical social worker, school-based counselor, and clinical therapist at a dual-diagnosis residential treatment program. Each experience offered reflective opportunities that eventually contributed to the BLND model, values and mission to deliver accessible, yet personalized mental health care services.
