LEO Lecturer I

Brooke B. Buys

Brooke Buys, MSW '13, PhD, focuses on innovative mental health care development, complex family systems and gender-responsive addiction treatment. Buys is the founder and CEO of BLND Health, a mental health care company located in Michigan and Colorado. The BLND team is composed of clinical social workers and psychologists serving individuals, families, couples, groups and organizations. Buys has worked within the social work field with individuals, and community engagement organizations for nearly 15 years. She completed a PhD in social work and psychology with her research focused on gender-responsive approaches to addiction treatment. Her career has been shaped early on by piloting reproductive health care services in Guatemala and serving as a home-based interventionist, medical social worker, school-based counselor and clinical therapist at a dual-diagnosis residential treatment program. Each experience offered reflective opportunities that eventually contributed to her business model, values and mission to deliver accessible, yet personalized mental health care services.
