Zaynab K. Boussi

Field Faculty and LEO Lecturer IV

Zaynab K. Boussi

Zaynab Boussi joined the Office of Field Education in 2021, bringing nearly 20 years of experience supporting children, youth and families through clinical practice, community engagement and field instruction.

A Dearborn native and daughter of Lebanese immigrants, Boussi’s work is grounded in culturally responsive care, trauma-informed practice and relationship-centered social work. She began her career as a case manager at the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS), working with refugee families and children with developmental disabilities. She went on to serve as a school social worker in Dearborn Public Schools, where she also supervised MSW interns and helped bridge classroom learning with real-world field experience.

Boussi earned her BA in psychology from UM-Dearborn and her MSW — with a focus on interpersonal practice, community mental health and school social work — from the U-M School of Social Work.

In addition to her work in academia, Boussi is a certified EMDR therapist and founder of Clarity Therapy, LLC, a private practice where she provides EMDR and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Her clinical focus includes anxiety, depression, trauma, acculturation and family systems, particularly within immigrant and marginalized communities.

Across her roles, Boussi is committed to supporting student development, advancing equitable mental health practices and honoring the strengths of diverse communities.
