Aimee M. Vantine

Aimee Vantine joined the Office of Field Education as field faculty and a LEO lecturer in spring 2021. Prior to this, she spent 23 years at Michigan Medicine working in a variety of clinical and macro positions with a primary focus on pediatrics and obstetrics. She was the Children’s and Women’s Bereavement Program Manager at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital at Michigan Medicine for five years and, prior to this, was the Pediatrics and Obstetrics Social Work Supervisor. Before management and program management roles, Vantine provided direct clinical care to patients and families in a variety of services both inpatient and ambulatory care including neonatal intensive care, the Pediatric Home Ventilator Program, pre and post anesthesia care units, medical/surgical inpatient service, pediatric rheumatology, high risk obstetrics, and maternal and infant support services. Vantine also served as a member of the Pediatric Ethics Committee for 10 years.

While at Michigan Medicine, Vantine worked with many MSW students as a field instructor and taught courses for field students including Breaking Bad News, and Ethics in Medical and Psychiatric Settings.

Vantine earned her BSW from Eastern Michigan University in 1995 and worked as an intensive client services manager with adults experiencing mental illness and chronic homelessness before going to graduate school and earning an MSW from Wayne State University in 1998.

Areas of particular interest for Vantine include grief, loss, ethics and mentorship of emerging social workers.
