  3. The Ethical Pendulum: Insight from Alumni Across the Social Work Profession

  5. Virtual Conversation on Stigma During COVID-19

    The School's Faculty Allies for Diversity (FAD) Committee in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DEI) invites you to a social support virtual conversation (students, faculty and staff) among those individuals wishing to prevent and stop stigmatization of and hostility against vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 epidemic. The March 26 conversation will add a focus on compassion fatigue, a state of mental health often experienced by those on the front lines fighting against disease and social disparities..

  6. Faculty Development Retreat: Universal Design for Learning

    The topic for this year's spring faculty development retreat will be Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how to integrate universal design practices into our classrooms. The day will consist of a presentation and hands-on workshops related to course design and other topics led by faculty facilitators and CRLT staff.

  7. Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Mood Disorders

    March 28, 2020 - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET

    The focus of this course is on the concepts, theory, principles and practice to the assessment and interpersonal psychotherapy of adults and adolescents with mood disorders. The course content reflects advanced material of current relevance for effective and evidence-based clinical social work practice. Specifically, this mini-course will provide updated training in the Interpersonal Psychotherapy treatment of mood disorders. This course will review diagnostic criteria and assessment, but will mainly focus on clinical skills and will be an interactive seminar type class.

    The Jewish Communal Leadership Program at the University of Michigan School of Social Work is hosting an interactive program on the topic of Jews and Money. We’ll explore how antisemitism, privilege, poverty, and philanthropy have impacted the relationship between Jews and money, especially as it relates to Jews at the University of Michigan and our personal relationships to money. Guest speakers, engaging activities, and small group discussion will help attendees understand the myths and realities of Jewish wealth and identify antisemitic stereotypes related to money. People of all ages, backgrounds, and religions are encouraged to attend. Students and community members welcome.

    Cosponsored by Trotter Multicultural Center, Michigan Hillel, School of Social Work Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Frankel Center for Judaic Studies

    Parking: Thompson Lot (508 Thompson St.) is two blocks from the venue and street parking can be found all down State St. and surrounding streets. All parking (deck and street) are free on Sundays. 

    Building accessibility: There is a wheelchair ramp at the front (State St.) entrance. The program is downstairs on the lower level. You will find the stairs directly to your left upon entering. The elevator is past the stairs also on the left. All-gender, accessible restrooms are on the main floor and second floor. Women’s and men’s accessible restrooms are also located on the lower level. 

    Food: Brunch will be served, free of cost. Kosher options available. Upon registration, please inform us of allergies and dietary restrictions so we can accommodate you.
