  3. Forensic Interviewing of Children

    March 20, 2020 - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET

    This is an advanced methods mini-course focused on forensic interviewing of children. The mini-course is particularly relevant to interviewing children alleged to have been sexually abused, but also be relevant to gathering information from children about a spectrum of traumatic experiences. This mini-course will provide a critical review of the evidence/research that is relied upon in forensic interviewing of children and will provide information about best practice. The course takes a child-centered/social justice approach, will admonish professionals to take into account the child's needs, developmental stage, and functioning, as well as the specifics of the allegations, when conducting forensic interviews. ...

  4. Alumni-Student Lunch Session with Jessica Ayoub, ACLU of Michigan’s Public Engagement Strategist

    Come grab lunch and have a conversation with alum Jessica Ayoub. Jessica earned her MSW from the University of Michigan in December 2015. Her ability to marshal volunteer forces played a crucial role in the passage of Proposal 3, an ACLU-backed ballot measure that makes it significantly easier for Michiganders to vote.  Prior to joining the ACLU-MI, she did a stint in AmeriCorps, working with Detroit school students. After that, she worked with Forgotten Harvest, helping provide quality food to low-income residents throughout metro Detroit. Through it all, one consistent thread has been a bedrock belief in helping community members develop the ability to take the lead on issues facing them. In her current role, Jessica serves as the ACLU of Michigan’s Public Engagement Strategist.

  10. Virtual Conversation on Stigma During COVID-19

    The School's Faculty Allies for Diversity (FAD) Committee in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DEI) invites you to a social support virtual conversation (students, faculty and staff) among those individuals wishing to prevent and stop stigmatization of and hostility against vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 epidemic. The March 26 conversation will add a focus on compassion fatigue, a state of mental health often experienced by those on the front lines fighting against disease and social disparities..
