  1. Resume Swap for First-Generation Students of Color

    November 7, 2019 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm

    The SSW SU First-Generation Subcommittee & Common Roots presents the Resume Swap for First-Generation Students of Color. Come together with your fellow peers to swap resumes. We will all give and receive feedback. Dr. Rogério Pinto will be present to give some feedback and share some tips with students. The event will be capped at 20 students. Food will be provided.

  3. Family Psychoeducation Intervention in Work with Adults, Adolescents, Children and Their Families/Extended Support Networks

    November 9, 2019 - 9:00am to 5:00pm

    This course will focus on developing the group work skills necessary to implement evidence-based family psychoeducation interventions in work with adults, adolescents, children and their families. Special emphasis will be given to the family psychoeducation approach using multiple family groups in the treatment of severe psychiatric disorders. This course will examine the theoretical and empirical foundations for family psychoeducation, as well as, the practice of multifamily group treatment in schizophrenia, bi-polar illness, major depressive disorder, borderline personality disorder and with children and adolescents with serious mental illnesses.

  8. Alumni Webinar Series: Trends in Philanthropy

    November 13, 2019 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    A growing economy, changing tax laws, evolving technology, emerging impact investments...all of these factors influence philanthropists. This session will explain current trends in philanthropy, including what, why and how donors give, and discuss the impact of those trends on charitable organizations.

  9. Common Roots - Recruitment Event

    Join Common Roots Planning Committee as we host our recruitment event for the Fall 2019 semester. The Common Roots Planning Committee will detail accomplishments, discuss plans for transition and goals for the Winter 2020 semester.

    Common Roots is a committee consisting of representatives from the SSW’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office, the LatinX Social Work Coalition, the Black Radical Healing Pathways, Association of Black Social Workers, the Office of Student Services and SSW Student Representatives.

  10. Voices from Around the World: A Global Poetry Slam

    November 13, 2019 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

    Mental Health Matters (MHM) is hosting a global-themed art exhibit this semester to celebrate and acknowledge the vast intersectionalities in experiencing mental health across the globe. This event will be open to anyone, and it will be a celebratory arts event where performers, poets, actors and just any student can share words or a prepared presentation representing important takeaways or noteworthy lived experiences regarding mental health from a culturally informed lens. Dinner/refreshments will be provided, and after the performances, there will be space for attendees to decorate Luminaria bags in memory or in honor of loved ones who have had journeys with their mental health, and how their diverse experiences have differed due to their various cultural backgrounds.
