Daniel Kaplan

Jewish Communal Leadership Program Class of 2019

Daniel Kaplan, originally from Highland Park, IL, is a Data Manager at Jewish Voice for Peace. He graduated from Whitman College in May 2010 with a BA in Race and Ethnic Studies. Before JCLP, he worked as a Community Organizer with the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs in Chicago, IL. Daniel is also a 2016 Avodah Justice Fellow, a 2013 Robert Clark Trust Fellow with the American Friends Service Committee, and former Moishe House resident. As a JCLP student, Daniel enjoyed learning about leading Jewish social justice organizations with efficacy, integrity, and rootedness in Jewish history and values. One great JCLP memory he has is celebrating Purim in seminar. Daniel says, “We had just finished the communal conversation the previous Sunday, and we felt accomplished and triumphant. We celebrated by playing JCLP Jeopardy together. That was the most I ever laughed in seminar.” He studied Management and completed field placements at Jewish Family Service of Metro Detroit and T’ruah: A Rabbinic Call for Human Rights in New York City.
