Kari Sherwood

Kari L. Sherwood, MS, MEd, MSW, LLMSW, is a Joint PhD student in Social Work and Developmental Psychology. She has a background in special education, autism, and instructional design. Kari joined the Level Up Employment Skills Simulation Lab in 2018, assisting with the adaptation and evaluation of Virtual Interview Training for Transition-Age Youth (VIT-TAY), an intervention to help autistic individuals practice job interview skills. She is currently assisting with the development of a new intervention, Social Skills at Work, aimed at helping autistic individuals sustain employment through practicing social skills in a virtual workplace. Kari is interested in infusing disability justice and critical disability theory into intervention research, and is particularly passionate about improving employment opportunities, access, and inclusion in the workplace for autistic and neurodivergent individuals. Kari uses mixed methods and implementation science in her research with a critical disability theory and disability justice lens.
