To address the shortage of mental health workers in the state of Michigan, the UM-SSW will identify Advanced Standing MSW student enrollees, recruit them for direct social work practice in mental health care in Michigan, and prepare them via a specialized and advanced curriculum. An additional focus will be in preparing them post-graduation, for licensure as licensed MSW practitioners.
