Interprofessional Fellowship in Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Oriented Services

The VA San Diego Healthcare System/University of California San Diego Interprofessional Fellowship in Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Oriented Services (“PSR Fellowship”) is currently recruiting for one social work fellow position for the 2024-25 training year.   

PSR fellows work primarily at the VA San Diego’s Center of Recovery Education (CORE), an award-winning CARF-accredited psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery center (PRRC) with an energetic and committed interdisciplinary team of staff and trainees who provide an impressive menu of evidence-based and innovative PSR services in a positive team culture. They also complete a rotation on our inpatient psychiatry unit. Fellows spend 60-80% of their time conducting clinical work under the supervision of licensed social workers and psychologists, up to 20% on a scholarly project, and 10-15% in didactics and training activities. Our fellows have consistently ranked the program very positively and many have gone on to satisfying careers in the VA and elsewhere. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to gain more focused training and supervision in evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT) and accrue more knowledge about VA clinics and services prior to licensure.   

Position information: 

We provide one year of paid, full-time, intensive training on psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) services for Veterans diagnosed with serious mental illness, primarily psychotic disorders.

Salary: $47,818

Fellows must have earned their MSW before August 25, 2025.

Timeline:

Interviews for social work candidates will occur virtually February – March 2025. One offer will be made on March 14, 2025 between 9am-12pm PST via telephone at which time the candidate may accept, decline, or hold the offer.
