Description

The Whitney Center for Psychotherapy of the CG Jung Institute of San Francisco has a dynamic and thriving
training program offering 8-10 interns a two year 22 hour per week rigorous and full experience of
psychodynamic open-ended Jungian informed depth psychotherapy.

Our respected internship annually selects interns from ASW, AMFT and APCC eligible individuals for
postmasters hours training toward licensure, as well as doctoral interns (CAPIC approved site) and senior
psychiatry residents.

The training includes: Psychotherapy with adults and couples (10-12 hrs/wk), individual supervision (2
hrs/wk), group case seminar (1.5 hrs/wk), didactic trainings (2-3 hrs/wk), group process (monthly) and a
weekly staff meeting (.5 hr/wk). Supervision and training is provided by Jungian analysts. The 12 month
training year begins in September. Interns receive an annual stipend of $6000.

We are providing training and in-person services in our new Mission Street, San Francisco location.
The Whitney Center for Psychotherapy of the CG Jung Institute of San Francisco has been serving the Bay area
for over 50 years as a sliding scale community clinic. The diverse patient population is screened for those
most likely to be able to utilize a depth psychotherapy model: individuals (and couples) who do not need crisis
management, and can work through developmental issues, current life problems, and develop their potential
through attention to their inner stirrings at an unhurried open-ended pace, usually once or twice weekly.
Often these are students, artists, and others in the Bay area who cannot afford full fees and can be seen for
$35-120 per session based on a sliding scale.

The intern group is a motivated and creative group of individuals with diverse backgrounds and interests in
Jungian studies, each of whom have demonstrated a capacity and skill for clinical work, ethical practice and
self-reflection. Some prior clinical experience with severe mental disturbance and substance abuse is helpful.
We value integration of personal and professional development, and interns are required to be in personal
therapy or analysis during their training.

Interns partake in the rich resources of our Institute learning community through their involvement in
intramurals (alongside analysts and candidates in training), extended education programs, our library, and
other Institute resources.

We are currently reviewing applications for the 25-27 training years that begins September 2025. Deadline for
applications is February 21, 2025.
