2-year Social Work Fellow

Job Description

The Social Work Fellow, Psychiatry, under general supervision, provides social work services for Department of Psychiatry. Provides detailed behavioral health evaluations incorporating a psychosocial history including risk assessment and recommendation for treatment, under supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Supervisor (LCSW-S) and within limitations of license. Delivers evidence based Psychotherapy to patients using assessment tools to track patient progress and tailored intervention, under supervision of an LCSW-S and within limitations of license. Assumes responsibility for difficult and complex patients based on experience or area of expertise. Provides specialty consultation to other health care staff. Documents services and activities per department standards and assists with program evaluation activities to track and analyze utilization and effectiveness of services. Conducts scholarly presentations to clinic staff and participates in educational activities for staff, students and trainees of other disciplines.

Furthermore, we regularly have opportunities for MSWs who would like to pursue a position in clinical research and telehealth. While it is often difficult to retain MSWs in research, at A&M we believe encouraging MSWs to consider research is vital for moving the field forward.
