"Welfare & Social Services in Southern Europe: The Role of the Third Sector (Nonprofits) in Greece, Italy, Spain & Portugal" will be presented by Prof. Ugo Ascoli, from the Polytechnic University of Marche, (Ancona, Italy). Prof. Ascoli comes to us from the Marche Polytechnic University (formerly the Polytechnic University of Ancona) in Central Italy. He is a full professor of Sociology in the Department of Economics and Social Sciences where he teaches courses on social policy. He has written many articles and books, including such topics as migration issues, the Italian Welfare State and its process of privatization, and comparative analyses of in industrialized countries and the role of nonprofit organizations in social welfare service provision. His books include The New Welfare Mix in Europe (Plenum, 2002, with Costanzo Ranci, [Eds.]), Welfare in Italy (Il Mulino,2011, [Ed.]), and his forthcoming book on The Italian Welfare State in a European Perspective (Policy Press, May 2015, with Emmanuele Pavolini, [Eds.]).
