    Three School of Social Work alumni were presented Distinguished Alumni Awards at the SSW All-Class Reunion Lunch on Friday, October 27, 2017.

    The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes School of Social Work alumni whose achievements exemplify the values of the School of Social Work and who have made an exceptional impact on the profession, the community and/or Social Work education.

    William Cabin '04 Appointed to Review NASW Policy Statement

     William Cabin, '04 has been appointed by NASW to the panel to review the NASW Policy Statement on Hospice Care Policy. The policy review is part of the NASW review of policy statements.

    Stephanie Chang Receives the Stabenow Political Leadership Award from NASW

    State Representative Stephanie Chang, '14 MSW/MPP received the NASW-Michigan Chapter Stabenow Political Leadership Award. This award is given to a social worker who has shown political and legislative leadership through advocacy, activism and passion. “It is an amazing honor to be recognized by the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers,” said Representative Stephanie Chang. “My training as a social worker has allowed me to make sure that I am actively advancing policy that seeks to improve every aspect of a resident’s life. Being in this space today was a proud and hopeful experience to see so many people dedicating their life to positive change.”

    William Cabin, MSW ’04 has Paper Accepted for Presentation at the Society for the Study of Social Problems Annual Meeting

    Dr. William Cabin has had a second paper accepted for presentation at the Society for the Study of Social Problems Annual Meeting in August 2017 in Montreal, Canada. The paper is entitled, "No One Really Cares”: The Lived Experience of Community-based Persons with Alzheimer’s disease (PWAD) and their Caregivers” and is based on Dr. Cabin's ongoing qualitative research projects.

It is a prestigious honor that serves to recognize the best of the best within the non-profit, philanthropic and community engagement sector.
