When should I apply to the Sexual Health Certificate Program?

As soon as possible.  Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the program fills several months before the cohort starts.

Will there be readings/assignments between sessions of the Sexual Health Certificate Program?

Yes, there are assignments, but these vary based on the course content and the instructors' preference. All online courses require successful completion of a post-test/quiz in addition to any other assignments.

Would it be okay for me to attend just one class rather than enrolling in the entire University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate Program?

No. The Sexual Health Certificate Program is a cohort-style program, and participants matriculate together and remain together throughout the program. Program courses are not available as separate individual courses.

What do I need to know about meeting the CE requirements for a webinar?

You need to attend the entire webinar and participate in any live interactive activities to receive your certificate. If your course requires a post-test, you must pass the post-test. You will also need to complete the required evaluation.

The post-test is usually distributed within 1-2 business days of a course to those who meet the attendance requirements. Attendees must complete and pass the post-test by the specified deadline, usually within one week. After the post-test deadline, the evaluation will be distributed. Participants who complete the evaluation will receive a link to their certificate.

What is the difference between a post-test/quiz and an evaluation?

Completion of a post-test (or an appropriate equivalent) is required for any online course to ensure participants are attentive in the online learning environment. The post-test is designed to assess your learning. The evaluation for the courses is intended to provide feedback to the organizers and presenters about the quality of the presentation, and evaluations are required for all CE courses.

Am I required to attend all live sessions?

Yes. Please check the schedule for the times you are expected to be signed on. All times listed are in Eastern time.

Where can I find the course schedule?

For all cohort-based programs, the schedule for each cohort is listed on the program website in Eastern time.

For self-paced programs, you are usually able to start the course within 1-2 business days of registering. The schedule for live Q&A or webinar sessions will be listed on the course site, and you can opt to attend whichever date(s) best fit your schedule.

What do I need to write in my personal statement?

We ask that your personal statement include the following:

1. Your personal and/ or professional journey that brought you to the field of sexual health
2. What you hope to do with your training in sexual health
3. Why you are choosing the SHCP

I see that the course catalog has multiple dates listed for a course: Can I pick which dates I want to attend?

No, you must attend all course dates if you want to receive CE hours. Partial credit is not available.

How do I access a webinar?

You will be sent an email approximately one week before the webinar is scheduled with information about how to access the session.
