Telmeko L. Ransom-Talley, Ed.S is a Sexologist, Sex Educator, and Lecturer of Education for Georgia State University Perimeter. She is a published children's book author of a book series entitled Through Pumpkin’s Eyes. Additionally, Telmeko is an award-winning radio show executive producer and host of The Handle with Care Radio Show which ran for over 5 years, winning two Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GABBY) awards and numerous other accolades. She also produced and hosted an award nominated documentary entitled Inspired which like the radio show, highlighted content aimed to empower and inform on issues that impact persons with disabilities. Telmeko is a consummate advocate for persons with developmental disabilities who has traveled internationally promoting system overhauls of the civil rights for persons with disabilities.
Telmeko is completing a Doctorate of Education (2022) in the area of Learning, Leadership, and Organizational Development from the University of Georgia. She completed the Sexual Health Certificate Program at the University of Michigan. Telmeko is a proud graduate of Tuskegee University where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree. After discovering a love of working with children with disabilities, Telmeko went on to earn a Masters of Education in Special Education from Auburn University and a Educational Specialist degree in Special Education Leadership from the University of West Georgia. Fulfilling a need to help persons with disabilities experience truly fulfilling lives, Telmeko entered the Doctorate of Sexology program studying with the pioneer of Sexology, Dr. Ted through the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. Telmeko earned another certification in Human Sexuality specializing in the training of persons with Developmental Disabilities from Elevatus Institute. As a degreed and certified Sex Educator and Sexologist, Telmeko has conducted innovative research which supports and promote the advancement of healthy sexuality for persons with disabilities. She travels the country providing workshops and training for parents, educators, service providers, caregivers, and professionals in the field of Developmental Disabilities on how to support healthy sexuality for persons with disabilities. Serving as a Sexologist and Sex Health Educator, Telmeko founded Sex Beyond Barriers, an education, training, consulting and outreach service. This service provides countless clients who have cognitive or physical disabilities assistance to aid them to remove the sexual barriers they experience due to their disabilities. Clients are assisted through the development of sexual assistive aids, dating resources, relationship mentoring, parental implemented sexual health action plans, and numerous other sexual health access opportunities.
