NASW-Michigan Director of Member Services Duane Breijak, LMSW will walk you through some of the immediate obstacles you may face when entering the profession. This workshop will provide an overview of the licensure process in Michigan, supervision requirements, the ASWB exam, as well as give new professional tools for salary negotiation and career advancement.

The SSW People of Color Collective is thrilled to host a live recording of BuzzFeed podcast Another Round with Heben Nigatu and Tracy Clayton. These co-hosts cover everything from race, gender and pop culture to squirrels, mangoes, and bad jokes on their weekly podcast. They’ve interviewed a number of esteemed guests, including Ta-Nehisi Coates and Hillary Clinton. Now they're taking the show on the road! Join the ladies of Another Round for a LIVE SHOW on U-M's campus.
This event will be free and RSVP is encouraged. Doors open at 6:30 for resource fair showcasing campus and community organizations. Show starts at 7:30.
There will also be an after party at Club Above for $5 per person. You can register for the free event at the Union and purchase tickets for the Club Above after party here.

Poverty Workshop- Long term follow up of Michigan SEED program participants: Tracking child development accounts from pre-school to high school
April 15, 2016 - 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM ET
During this workshop, Associate Professor Trina Shanks and doctoral student Anne Blumenthal will present prliminary results of the SEED Impact Assessment study, a quasi-experimental program that tests the impact of offering Head Start families 529 college education plans for their enrolled children.

U-M Sexual Health Certificate Program 2016 Plenary: "Advocating Global Reproductive Justice in the Academic Space"

The 2016 U-M Sexual Health Certificate Program (SHCP) Plenary speaker is Dr. Timothy Johnson, who will present on "Advocating Global Reproductive Justice in the Academic Space."
Dr. Johnson is the Bates Professor of the Diseases of Women and Children, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Obstetrician-Gynecologist-in-Chief of the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital at the University of Michigan. He is also Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Professor of Women’s Studies, and Research Professor in the Center for Human Growth and Development. He is active in international teaching and training especially in Ghana, Africa and is an honorary fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, honorary fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Fellow ad eundem of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (London) and honorary fellow of the International College of Surgeons.
