IRB on the Road
September 6, 2013 - 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET
For the past several years, the IRB-Health Sciences Board, which reviews most of the IRB applications from the School of Social Work, has been conducting "IRB on the Road" sessions to help researchers navigate the IRB process. No formal presentations are given, but rather staff are available for consultation within the units. The goal of these sessions is to strengthen relationships with researchers while helping to create an enhanced understanding of both the IRB process and the eResearch submission process. Deb Schild is our current liaison at the IRB.
These sessions are typically well attended, so we would like to ask you to "register" for a 15-minute time period by e-mailing Deb ([email protected]). This will cut down on your waiting time in case there are several people in line before you. You will want to do this BEFORE Deb arrives, as she will be in consultations after her arrival. Of course, if you don't schedule a meeting time, you can still stop by to see if she has time to meet with you.

Alumni Day of Service - Detroit
September 7, 2013 - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET
Help break the cycle of poverty with your fellow SSW alumni in a day of service at The Matrix Center. We will be organizing and sorting donations to distribute to our neighbors in need. Depending on the weather, we may also help remove community blight. Friends and family (ages 11+ with an adult) are welcome.
The Matrix Center, a thriving community center on Detroit’s east side, offers youth and families, adults and seniors an array of needs assessments, supportive services and referrals designed to break the cycle of poverty through collaboration with more than 150 mission partners.
