  2. Undoing Racism Workgroup

    April 17, 2025 - 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET

    Undoing Racism is a community collective of students, staff and faculty in the School of Social Work dedicated to fighting white supremacy at individual, school and structural levels. This workgroup was established in 2019 after the community took part in the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond Undoing Racism workshops and builds on their anti-racist community organizing model. No matter what role you play here at SSW, you are always welcome and encouraged to come to Undoing Racism meetings.

  3. "For The Bible Tells Me So": Reconciling Personal and Professional Values in Social Work Practice

    This webinar explores the interplay between religious beliefs, personal values, and professional ethics in social work practice. Through guided discussions, participants will reflect on how personal faith and moral convictions shape their worldview, while examining the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics as a framework for professional responsibility.   4. Restorative Practices in Social Work

    April 25, 2025 - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM ET

    Restorative practices focus on fostering interpersonal and community trust, respect, and relationships. This workshop will explore restorative practices as they relate to social work practice. We will apply restorative conceptual frameworks and principles, while teaching applied restorative practice skills. Participants will learn to apply restorative practices to a number of social work settings and across client populations, and will be able to identify how restorative practices can impact those involved.

  6. Introduction to Field Education Virtual Webinar for All Incoming Fall 2025 MSW Students

    April 28, 2025 - 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM ET

    This session is for all incoming Fall 2025 On-Campus and Online MSW students. This webinar is specifically for students starting field in Fall 2025. All students starting field in Fall 2025 should plan to view this session. This webinar will help navigate the process of applying for a field placement.  The last 30 minutes of the session discusses specific information for students planning to apply for a school-based field placement.

    Students admitted in Fall 2024 to a dual degree or Part-Time program should also watch this session, since you are scheduled to start field in Fall 2025.

    Students admitted to the Fall 2025 Part Time On-Campus or Part-Time Online programs do NOT need to watch this session: you will be starting field 12-16 months after entering the program (depending on your part-time curriculum track).

    Students that are being admitted into the MSW program in Fall 2025 but will not start field until W26, please plan to attend the virtual Introduction to Field Education Webinar in September 2025, specific date and time is yet to be determined.

  7. School-Based Placements Only: Online Education Agreement is Due for April 2025 Graduates

    April 30, 2025 - 5:00 PM ET

    If you are an April graduate, your final field evaluation is due on April 30th. You are still required to attend field until the end of the public school year (sometime in June).

  8. Clinical Strategies to Treat The Relationship to Pain

    May 1, 2025 (all day)

    This course will explore how to assess and understand pain in clinical settings. Focus will be placed on utilizing the language of the client to explore the roots of pain, impact on identity and relationships. Interactive assessment tools will be introduced to explore sources of pain, history of pain, connection of pain to lifestyle and relational adaptions. The course will utilize tools from multiple modalities to explore treatment interventions related to pain.

  9. School of Social Work Spring Commencement 2025

    May 3, 2025 - 1:30 PM ET

    The School of Social Work Spring Commencement for Social Work students will be held in person at the Power Center and livestreamed on the SSW website. Power Center doors will open for guests and graduates beginning at 12:30pm.

    A light reception will be held in the Power Center Lobby immediately following the commencement ceremony.

    Specific instructions and information will be added to this page as commencement approaches. In the meantime, view the School of Social Work Commencement Guide for general commencement information.

  10. Mandatory Pre-Field Orientation Virtual Webinar for MSW Students Starting Field in the Spring/Summer 2025 Term

    May 6, 2025 - 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET

    This event is for students starting Field, residential and online, for the Spring/Summer 2025 term. This mandatory session will help to provide an overview of what to expect in Field your first term, what is required for a successful grade, and to answer any questions students may have. Please ensure you are attending the correct Field Faculty meeting. If you are unsure of who your Field Faculty is, check your SW 515 canvas site.
