Beyond White Social Work: An Introduction to Afrocentric Social Work

The University of Michigan School of Social Work Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion would like to invite you to come kick it with current MSW students and explore beyond the Eurocentric perspective in social work! This event will be an introduction to Afrocentric Social Work, diving into the foundations of Afrocentric Social Work itself, as well as introducing Afrocentric-focused courses offered within the University of Michigan School of Social Work. This event will be completely virtual, via Zoom, and will take place on August 14, 2023, at 1:00PM (Eastern Time). The RSVP link can be found under "Event Details" below. We hope to see you there!

This online session will provide the opportunity to learn more about the University of Michigan School of Social Work MSW program. Topics covered will include: Online Program, On-Campus Program, Curriculum Options, Application Process, Financial Aid, and more!

Fall 2023 SSW International Student Orientation
August 21, 2023 (all day)
Fall 2023 SSW International Student Orientation will be held on Monday, August 21 and will provide information for incoming MSW international students. At this time, we are planning for an in-person orientation to be held at the U-M School of Social Work.
Details and an agenda will be available at a later date.
Please note that all incoming MSW students are expected to attend Fall SEED Orientation. Various sessions will be held each day on August 22, 23, 24, and 25.

Share, Explore, Engage, Discover (SEED) is the School of Social Work's fall orientation experience for incoming on-campus MSW students. All incoming on-campus MSW students should plan to join SEED Orientation Week activities. Various activities are scheduled each day during Fall SEED Orientation Week (8/22 - 8/25).

It is important to note that the first class session of SW590 will be held during SEED Orientation Week on Thursday, August 24.
