Dr. Davies had a long career as a Clinical/Practice Associate Professor at the SSW while working as a child, adolescent and adult therapist in private practice. He was the author of "Child Development: A Practitioner's Guide", a very popular text for social work courses across the US, and was a consultant to child care centers, family day care providers, public schools, and mental health agencies in Michigan, Virginia, Hawaii and Alaska. He received many honors including U-M Excellence in Teaching Awards and The Selma Fraiberg Award for significant contributions to the needs of infants and their families, given by the Michigan Infant Mental Health Association.
Please join us for an afternoon of honoring the memory and clinical contributions of Doug Davies. Doug's capacity to understand and convey the inner world of children is a gift to the field. This memorial lecture will remind us of what excellence in practice with children looks like and give us all an opportunity to recall his brilliance and be inspired to work with children and families with the same level of commitment and caliber. All are welcome.
