This course is designed as 2 three hour trainings, geared towards social workers that are involved with the assessment and placement of children in out-of-home care, and who are looking for a deeper understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). This course will also cover cultural factors to consider when working with AI/AN families. Participants will expand their understanding of ICWA and gain confidence in meeting the needs of AI/AN children and families, while remaining in-compliance with the Law. The social workers role will be explored in accordance to the NASW Code of Ethics. Participants will learn to identify community resources available to American Indian/Alaska Native children and their families involved in the child welfare system.
Registration for this course is closed. Visit the CE Course Catalog for more offerings.
