Richard Hoefer is the Roy E. Dulak Professor for Community Practice Research and Director of the Center for Advocacy, Nonprofit and Donor Organizations at The School of Social Work at The University of Texas-Arlington. He has written many books on advocacy practice in social justice and nonprofit settings and is the author of Advocacy Practice for Social Justice (2nd Edition), (2012), Is Your Organization Visible: Five Must-Do Steps for Nonprofits to Take to Become "Famous" to Donors, Volunteers, Funders and the Media (with Shannon Graves, 2014) and Developing Nonprofit and Human Service Leaders: Essential Knowledge and Skills (with Larry D. Dan Watson) (2013). He received his PhD from The Interdisciplinary Program in Social Work and Political Science at The University of Michigan.
