This presentation will focus on the impact of health care reforms in Michigan - Integrated Care and Medicaid expansion - and the implications for senior health issues in Detroit. The implications of the aforementioned reforms on the community based organizations that have traditionally provided long term care services and supports for Detroit's aging health care consumers will be examined. In addition the expanded roles of social work in this new world order will be discussed. Two panelists will respond and discuss additional issues. One is a Detroit senior with a work history in health care who will respond from the consumer point of view. The second is a social worker who will discuss care transitions and the relationship to health care reform.
