Book Talk - Stop It! A Practical Guide for Youth Violence Prevention

(all day)

Friends and Colleagues:

Hello!! Depending on when the last time you and I were in touch, you may be surprised to know that I co-authored a book that was published in 2012. My co-author, Joann Schladale, and I are both very excited with the results of over two years of dedication to the project.

I am pleased to announce that I will be talking about our book at Nicolas Books in Ann Arbor on Sunday, April 7th at 3:00 p.m. The book is already available at Nicola's. (2513 Jackson Ave. in the Westgate Shopping Center; www.nicolasbooks.com) If you arent familiar with Nicolas Books, the store supports many local authors and sponsors book talks quite frequently. It is one of the few independent bookstores left in this area.

Our book, Stop It! A Practical Guide for Youth Violence Prevention, is based on current research that supports what works in keeping children and teens from becoming violent and helping to prevent further violence if it has already occurred. We use our own clinical experiences to offer examples of how to put into practice the evidence based research. Our book is written so that the information is easily accessible to anyone interested in what they can do to curb violence in their family or community. It is for parents, other caregivers, teachers, mentors, mental health professionals, juvenile probation officers, law enforcement, etc. It is not written as an academic text although it would be a great guide for someone with an interest in youth violence prevention and is just starting out in a field such as social work or criminal justice.

I hope to see some of you on April 7th at Nicola's Books. Please pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested in the topic.
