SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
DESCRIPTION:

This is a 4 year appointment with the possibility of continuing with available funding.

The University of Michigan is seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator to support research and evaluation efforts for a course on Sexual Citizenship. This position will play a critical role in conducting research, coordinating data collection efforts, and managing project logistics to ensure the development of an evidence-informed curriculum. The Project Coordinator will work closely with faculty, researchers, UM Master of Social Work students, and community partners to conduct qualitative and quantitative research, oversee data management tasks, and contribute to academic and community-based presentations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research & Data Collection
Design and administer surveys to collect data relevant to the course and associated research projects.
Coordinate survey administration and ensure accurate data collection processes.
Organize and facilitate focus groups and key informant interviews to gather qualitative insights.
Assist in the development of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and associated documents to ensure compliance with research ethics and human subjects protections.
Ensure all research activities adhere to ethical guidelines and best practices in social research.

Data Management & Analysis
Complete qualitative and quantitative data analysis using tools such as SPSS, STATA, or similar statistical programs.
Maintain and manage project databases, ensuring accuracy and organization for analysis.
Assist in evaluating data to inform both academic research and community-based applications.
Think critically about how to interpret and apply data for research purposes and practical interventions.

Project Coordination & Administrative Tasks
Track project milestones, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain accurate project documentation.
Manage paperwork efficiently and ensure timely and accurate submission of all project-related documents.
Assist in writing reports based on research processes, procedures, and data findings.
Support the development of community-based presentations, conference abstracts, and academic posters.
Promote and ensure cultural competence in all research, teaching, and community engagement efforts.
Support peer facilitators in collaboration with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC) team.
Oversight and administration of incentives program (HSIP).
Assist faculty and project leads with administrative and logistical support as needed.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Public Health (MPH), Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience conducting research, including data collection, survey design, and/or focus group facilitation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with culturally diverse populations in a community setting.
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel) and database management.
Experience with SPSS, STATA, or other statistical programs.
Knowledge or skills in peer facilitation models, as well as clinical mental health interventions.

Work Location & Schedule
This position is based in Ann Arbor, MI, with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule.
