U-M Foundation Funding for Faculty

Private foundations are mission-driven entities that seek to make a difference in society, whether at the grass roots level or through systems-level policy change. Foundations fund big ideas and can supplement your federal grants, provide seed money for your research, fund community engagement work, or support the gathering of preliminary data. They seek projects with concrete outcomes that demonstrate innovation in solving a particular problem.

The U-M Foundation Funding for Faculty website provides details about foundations:

  • how to find the best prospects
  • information on the foundation’s culture and strategy
  • funding history with U-M
  • sample successful proposals

In addition to the U-M Foundation Relations resources, the SSW Research Office can also assist you with the preparation and submission of proposal applications.
