Psychological distress, i.e., depression and anxiety (D&A), is highly prevalent among adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. AYAs diagnosed with cancer often do not have access to D&A treatment due to poor distress screening and monitoring over time. Given recent advances in mobile technology and artificial intelligence (AI), speech-based and AI-enabled D&A screening and monitoring mobile apps have significant potentials in facilitating flexible, AYA-friendly distress screening over time. However, despite key developments in D&A diagnostic technologies, patient-centered research focusing on the feasibility and acceptability of these tools remains scarce. Therefore, in this proposal, our team evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of a speech-based, AI-enabled D&A screening and monitoring mobile app for AYAs diagnosed with cancer.
