Anna Wood

PhD Student. Social Work/Sociology

Anna Wood

Anna K. Wood (she/they) received an MSW in 2016 from the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus in macro social work. Anna is broadly interested in the ways that class-based, gendered, or racialized logics can inform organizational policies and procedures. She asks how assumptions that come with those logics might impact the experiences of people who are dependent on organizations. In Social Work, she applies this puzzle to banking and financial institutions and considers the role of the financial industry in maintaining exploitative processes under racial capitalism. In Sociology, she applies many of the same questions to the field of higher education, looking institutional responses to crises such as campus sexual assault, the COVID-19 pandemic, or student debt.
