SSW
Briana Starks is a PhD Student in the Joint Program in Social Work and Sociology. The study of stratification and inequality unifies her research interests. She is most interested in research that illuminates the lived experience of low-income families. She is currently involved in the study of reproductive behavior and habits of young women, children's savings accounts and educational outcomes and expectations for low-income families, as well as within-group differences in wealth, income, and education.
Poverty, inequality, social stratification, racial disparities, the welfare state, and access to postsecondary education; connecting micro processes to macro structures using mixed methods.
