New Student To-Do Checklist

To prepare for the MSW program, please complete the following tasks after you matriculate.

Complete Essentials

• Obtain a uniqname
• Complete Technical Standards and Conduct Policy Form, if not already submitted
• Complete Curriculum Schedule, Field Education, and Time Commitment Form, if not already submitted
• Regularly check U-M email
• Review Admitted Students Orientation Toolkit
  It is important to review all Toolkit content. The Toolkit will be updated throughout spring and summer.
• Review estimated student budget, tuition and cost of attendance
• Review financial aid information via Student Business in Wolverine Access
• Review Information on Canvas
• Complete steps to appeal a residency decision, if necessary
• Review resources for students with disabilities (optional)
• Review SSW Financial Aid Information for MSW Students

Prepare for Registration

Fall 2024 course registration will occur in July. In June, you will receive an email with your registration appointment date and time, as well as course planning information. Be sure to check your UMich email regularly!

• Submit official final transcript(s) to the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management at msw.transcripts@umich.edu, if necessary
• Complete Technical Standards and Conduct Policy Form (required before issued a registration appointment)
• Review ‘Your Course Registration and SEED Orientation’ Toolkit
• Review ‘Your Field Experience’ Toolkit
• Review ‘Global Social Work Opportunities’

Prepare for Student Life on Campus

• Secure housing
• Obtain a U-M Student ID Card (Mcard)
• Review health insurance options
• Review athletics ticket information (optional)
• Review parking options and other "getting around" information
• Review ‘Student Organizations & Student Life’ Toolkit
• Review ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ Information
• Review ‘Your Career and Writing Services’ Toolkit
• Review Additional Information and New Student Resources
