Assistant Professor Shawna Lee was published in the Journal of Developmental Psychology v.49. Her article is titled, "Does Warmth Moderate Longitudinal Associations Between Maternal Spanking and Child Aggression in Early Childhood?"
Rhett Reader, a MSW student and a U.S. Air Force veteran who served from 1991-1993 in the first Gulf War, is the Veteran Mentor Coordinator for the Waterford Township Veterans' Treatment Court. The newly established court was featured in Spinal Colunm, West Oakland's Newsweekly. Reader attended the the annual Veterans Court Forum at the State of Michigan Supreme Court and was able to speak about the program's success.
Professor Jorge Delva was a moderator for the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council workshop on standards for benefit-cost analysis of preventive interventions for children, youth, and families. The objective of the workshop was to identify the issues needed to find consensus on the standards for benefit-cost analysis of preventive interventions.
Proffesor Lorraine Gutiérrez participated in an interdisciplinary workgroup for community-focused, ecologically-minded and social justice-oriented research, which was sponsored by the Michigan Community Research and Action Workgroup.
Brandy Sinco received an award from "Peers for Progress" to travel to Washington, DC to attend the meeting of National Peer Support Collaborative Learning Network. Brandy is active in the quality improvement work group.
Abigail Williams, PhD student, was awarded the Vivian A. and James L. Curtis Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship supports doctoral students whose research focuses on minority populations with low income and education, with a preference for research on issues faced by African American males.
